Twist Of Fate

I had just taken the first sip of my first drink

And my mind was just relaxed enough to think

I looked up and saw a faint glow across the room

And I had to wonder if it would burn out too soon

Just off to the left was a young girl with long blond hair

And I couldn't help myself to sip and stare

I caught her eye for just a moment in the dim glowing light

But I didn't like this feeling I found I had to fight

She never asked if she could sit and join me

There was something on her mind that I could see

I'll always wish I knew what she was thinking

But I just looked away and kept up with my drinking

Time went by and the hour got late

But when I turned around I didn't see her face

I asked around but no one ever saw her

She seemed to disappear without a trace

There wa a drink soaked napkin that once held a number to her phone

And I imagined that she probably lived alone

I bet I'll never see her face again

And I'll never know how good things could have been
